Vidcast #2: How To Brew with Dude Night
In our second vidcast, we give you a grand tour of the HogDawg Brewery, and show you the ins and outs of making a batch of all-grain beer. We'll explain the ingredients, the process, and have some fun along the way. You'll also get a chance to meet Guinness, the patron saint and official fly catcher of HogDawg Brewery. In this episode, we're brewing a batch of Dude Night Double IPA.
The Ingredients:
12 pounds 2-row pale malt
1/2 pound cara-munich malt
1/2 pound crystal malt
1/2 pound cara-pils malt
3 ounces Chinook hops

The video may take a while to load (buffer), but it's worth the wait.
Cheers!

Wow! Finally had a chance to watch the video. Excellent job guys. That setup makes my shitty pot on the stove look like its out of the Flintstones.
Cheers!

That was really excellent. You make it look so easy. Wish I had gear like that. Great job on that video. Seriously, great job.
Nice video guys. I really enjoyed that. Any chance we can get some of that beer?
Thanks for your comments everyone. Bubby, don't feel bad. My setup is your run-of-the-mill low-tech brewery too. I use an igloo cooler to mash and sparge, and boil in a 7-gallon pot on a propane burner meant for deep frying turkeys. It's been working for me for many years and I'm apprehensive to screw around with a good thing.
One of these days . . .
Hey beer_me:
Hog Dawg recently racked the beer over to a conditioning tank. Once it's filtered and carbed up, we'll have our first initial tastings (which will be available on the Clarkehead Brewery site). If it's deemed presentable to the public, we'll have some with us at Stone's 10th Anniversary celebration. Meet us there and we'll float you a bottle or two.
Cheers,
Clarke
That was a hell of a long download but worth it. Thanks for the education on making beer. How did it turn out? Looks like a lot of work. Is it expensive to get all of that gear? Gonzo was drunk, wasn't he?
Dude Night rawks! That was a great video. You all looked drunk as shit at the end. I need to start brewing. Is it expensive?
Hey guys,
Thanks for posting. Getting started in brewing is not expensive. In fact it's very inexpensive, considering what you're making.
I would suggest you start here - www.howtobrew.com - and buy his book while you're there. While we gave you a general idea of the process, Palmer explains it in detail.
Then, buy a homebrew kit. Here are some good starter kits.
Trust me, don't worry about the price. Just buy the damned thing. By the time you've made your 2nd or 3rd batch of excellent beer, you'll have made all of that money back. Consider what 5 gallons of microbrew would cost you. You follow me?
Then, brew. And brew some more. Keep brewing and you'll start to see better and better results. Once you start brewing, you'll NEVER want to stop. Not ever.
Let us know if you have ANY problems or questions. We're all here to help you out. Also, check out the Brewing Network at www.thebrewingnetwork.com. They have one of the best podcasts on the internet, and a great source for homebrewing (and beer in general).
Cheers,
Clarke
Very entertaining, once again. Dig the dog too. Very cool.
Digging that brewing set-up. Saw one of those online and it looked expensive. Can't wait for the temperatures to drop out here in Florida so I can brew again.
I think I was drinking as much beer as Hogy was brewing!!!
