Episode 12: Beers With Horns

In this episode we enjoy (a little too much) Belgian and Belgium-inspired beers. All have a devil or satanic theme, high ABVs and kick our collective ass.

Beers Tasted:

Damnation from Russian River: 7.0%ABV / 1.068 Belgian Style Golden Ale

Lucifer Golden Ale: 8.0% ABV Belgian Golden Ale

Maudite: 8.0% ABV Belgian Style Red Ale

Satan Red Ale: 8.0% Belgian Strong Red Ale

Highlights:
• Gonso gets fucked up
• The Dark Lord himself makes a surprise visit
• cLarKe shares his affinity for cartoon women
• Did I mention that Gonso gets fucked up?

Anyway, enjoy our spiral down into the depths of demonic beer hell and it's blurring effects.

Download Here (if you dare).

Cheers,

Hog Dawg

Okay, first on the brewing network, and now with you guys... I have to try Russian River Beers. I'm also very interested in the Ale Smith beers. The brewer there had a great interview.

Good show guys!

Thanks Rick. Damnation was so incredibly clean and fresh tasting that I simply could not think of giving top billing to any of the other beers that night.

Vinnie Cilurzo is a total God when it comes to brewing Belgian beers. His sour brown ales are incredible as well. If you can get your hands on some of this stuff, I highly recommend it. And if you find yourself back here in So. Cal, let us know, so we can get together for a few.

Cheers, and thanks again for supporting our show. We're Big on Big Foamy Head!

That was the drunkest you've all ever sounded. Congrats!

Satan should appear on every show too. He's a great addition. Drink up, buttercup.

So I had the Lucifer once before. I really enjoyed it. I found the maltyness really came first, and floral hoppy flavors after that. The alcohol was hardly present, but I knew it was there after I was finished (big fucken bottle).

It finished bitter and hoppy just how I like it. Nice and smooth for such a strong beer at 8.5%.

Why didn't you guys have Duvel? Have you had that before? That's a devil beer. Haven't had the Damnation, but after clark said he liked it most I would like to try it.

Do more Belgian shows. I love Belgian beers.

Thanks for listening guys. And thanks Seymour for the report on Lucifer. I have to be totally honest and say that I do NOT remember that beer very well. I was pretty cracked by then, so I appreciate your rundown of that beer. That's EXACTLY how I remember it too. :-)

Thanks again for listening, and for posting. No new shows planned, but we will be releasing a special V-cast of the San Diego Real Ale Festival soon. Stay tuned.

Hey Hussain, thanks again for posting. What part of the globe are you from? We're trying to get an idea from everyone, so please let us know.

Glad we could help pass the time at work. I like to listen to podcasts while I'm working sometimes too, so I know how that is. I appreciate your comments.

Not sure if Gonso caught total heat from his bride that night, but anytime your wife yells at you for drinking too much it's always no bueno - you know what I mean?

Married? Then you know what I mean.

Cheers, and thanks again for listening and posting.

Great show, guys.

Is this the same Lucifer Belgian golden that you had on the show? If so, you were all mistaken, it's not from Belgian it's from Czech Republic.

LOVED the visit from Satan. You should make him a regular. Great music too. Oh, and I'm from Sacramento.

When's the next show?
