Vidcast #1: 2006 San Diego Real Ale Fest
In our first attempt in recording and producing a video podcast, we drag our wives to Pizza Port’s Real Ale Festival in Carlsbad CA on Saturday, June 10th. There were over 70 cask conditioned ales from throughout the Western US. While the beer was good (high ABV) the comradely was great. We got a little drunk too (big shock).

No, I didn't drink 17 of those. I was joking. We each got 10 drink tickets, but somehow I was given 14. Our wives were good for about 5, so before long we each had more tickets than we could use. Then, some guys walked up and asked us if we wanted their tickets and I just had to refuse. I think I had 8 tasters total, and I was just cooked.
I would highly suggest checking out any ale fests you can manage to get to. We're fortunate to have great microbreweries down here, with a tremendous community. Stone Brewing will be celebrating their 10th Anniversary in September, and we plan another vidcast from there as well.

Yeah, believe me. If we'd tried all of the beers there, we'd have been doing this vidcast from the hospital.

If you guys are ever in Texas, you should check out the Real Ale Brewing Company. They make one of the best barleywines I've ever tasted. If you like barleywine, you'll love this.
You guys should maybe do a barleywine show.
