Episode 11: Die Hefeweizen Show

In this versatile episode we will walk you through a Bavarian Hefeweizen experience.

• Clarke gives us a lesson in how to effectively communicate to a multi-billion dollar brewing company.
• We provide interesting beer related rambling about the 2006 World Cup.

• We test 3 fantastic Hefeweizen and Gonzo attempts to explain what it is like to drink it in the Hefeweizenland #1.
• Hog Dawg re-enacts his April Fools joke on us all.

And do not be scared by the German beer drinking songs, embrace them, learn to sing them, and impress your friends.

There are over 1000 Hefeweizen brands available in Bavaria, with a 90% market share.

These are the Hefeweizen tested:

Ayinger Brau-Weisse
Ayinger Brewery was founded in 1878 and is a medium size independent brewery just south of Munich, Bavaria.

Schneider Weisse
The Original. Family owned since 1872 and still using the same recipe.

Paulaner Brauerei Paulaner Hefe-Weizen
Paulaner is one of the biggest brewers in Munich and was established in 1634 by monks.

Episode 10: Cinco de Mayo

You might be sick of "Cinco de Mayo" podcasts at this point, but that doesn't stop us from adding to the list. In Episode 10, we taste 4 different tequilas: Sauza Blanca, Sauza Hornitos, Jose Cuervo Gold, and Patron Anejo. We also tell you how tequila is made, and sprinkle some factoids about tequila here and there, some you may already know, and some you may not.

Then we introduce another game to our ongoing list of time-wasters: Dead or Alive. Listen in as Gonso and Hog Dawg go head-to-head in guessing which famous people are taking a dirt nap, or still kicking.

WARNING: There is an inordinately high F-BOMB count in this episode, so be prepared. We were a bit fired up for Cinco de Mayo.

In this episode:

• Episode 9 recap

• Check out www.shouldidrinkthat.com

• Hog Dawg & Gonso enjoy Mexican beer. Clarke can't set foot in Mexico.

• Cultural diversity in Southern California

• Hog Dawg gives a Spanish lesson

• Tequila tastings and factoids.

• The word "ya'll"

• Dead or Alive game

• Did Gonso drop the "N" word?

Bring on the Avalanche!

With a 3-0 victory tonight, my beloved Ducks eliminated the #3 seeded Calgary Flames from the NHL playoffs and will play host to the Colorado Avalanche in the 2nd round.

Initially, I thought we'd end up the #5 seed and get a chance to rip through Nashville. But the team got lazy after qualifying for the playoffs and paid the price by having to go through a rough 7-game series with Calgary.

We'll have home ice advantage in this series, which starts on Friday.

Game 1 - Fri, May 5 – at Anaheim, 10:00 pm EDT
Game 2 - Sun, May 7 – at Anaheim, 3:00 pm EDT
Game 3 - Tue, May 9 – at Colorado, 8:00 pm EDT
Game 4 - Thu, May 11 – at Colorado, 10:00 pm EDT
Game 5 - Sun, May 14 – at Anaheim, 3:00 pm EDT (if necessary)
Game 6 - Wed, May 17 – at Colorado (if necessary)
Game 7 - Fri, May 19 – at Anaheim (if necessary)
