Episode 16: The Bavarian Experience
We go on yet another trip to Bavaria as Gonso treats us to some authentic German Kolsch and Alt Bier. He explains what going to a German Kolsch pub is like. Then, we see how Clarkehead's Clarkeweizen stands up against another authentic German Hefeweizen - Schofferhofer.
We also find out how incredibly young Gonso was when he had his first beer (and his first fish sandwich). It's safe to say we're learning more and more about Gonso with each episode.
In this episode:
• Serving cultures at a German Kolsch brewery
• Currywurst mit Ketchup
• Reisdorf Kolsch
• Allegra Dusseldorf Alt
• Schofferhofer Hefeweizen
• Clarkeweizen
• Clarke's Mom's first and only beer experience
• How old were you when you had your first beer?
• How about your first fish sandwich?

Hey!
You didn't pimp this anywhere! Had it not been for my subscription through iTunes I would have had no idea!
Great episode...no chugga lugga, but hey...I asked for audio, I got audio right?
Thanks for brightening my Monday guys!

Wow, you're fast! We didn't get a chance to pimp it yet, but glad the iTunes subscription is working so well that you got a chance to listen to it.
Not the "Dude Night" we're used to presenting, but I can assure you we have more exciting shows planned later this month.
Thanks for listening, mamagoot. We appreciate it. Everyone check out Two Chicks And A Cooler.
Cheers!

That was a lowkey show. It was a great listen with some fantastic beer styles. Kölsch and Alt! YUM! I didn't know Gonso was a brewer also... very cool that all 3 of you are homebrewers. Looking forward to Beerwitch! Seems like ages since the trailer came out.
When's Dude Night coming back?
Speaking of fish sandwiches, what exactly is in a Filet-O-Fish? I've never seen a square fish, have you?
By the way, had my first fish sandwich when I was 19. Never looked back.
Great show guys! I haven't had a Kolsch in a long time, may have to revisit that one. My first beers that I ever tried as a kid was Malt Duck and Coors, my dad used to let me drink some of his, as I became a young drunk teen it progressed to basically all the domestic crap I could get my hands on!
Whew! That was boring. Where's the Beer Witch, bitches?
Well done! You know, I am still catching up, but I love the fun, informal and informative approach. Impressive stuff. I loved the discussions you all had about Germany and all, good stuff.
FYI on the Kolsch, it is an ale that is lagered (cold stored) for a month. Technically called a 'hybrid' beer (as are Altbiers).
Hefe's should ferment at 68F, then crashed to 50F for one day, then to 35F for two days - another FYI. I don't think there is validity to the rumor that higher temps provide more banana esters. Could be wrong.
See, the geek in me.
Don't listen to those other losers. I thought this show was pretty cool. I always enjoy listening to Gonzo talk about his days in Germany. I wish I had those experiences.
Can't wait to see the beer witch movie. I've been watching the trailer over and over.
