Episode 3: The Beer Show

Our third episode, from the tasting room at Clarkehead Brewery, is dedicated to Beer. Download it here. Amazingly for a beer show we didn't get too hosed. Given that, I wonder if you can still consider it a beer show.

Before we get to the beer however, it's obvious that Gonso is either: a) Taking Viagra or b) Considering taking Viagra.

Highlights:

• Clarkehead IPA vs. Stone IPA. Not fair at all. It's like making Chris Rock fight Mike Tyson.
• The Bratwurst experiment (bad idea)
• Clarkehead's Monkey's Dunkle tasting, and the early days of Clarkehead Brew
• Gonso's English lesson for the day
• Clarkehead Black Cat Milk Stout vs. Widmer Snow Plow Milk Stout. Again, an unfair comparison.
• Dawg needs to get a refund on his laser eye surgery.

My apologies up front for getting a little geeky with the technical details of making beer. It really could have been much worse, but the guys reeled me in quite a bit - much to your benefit.

Episode One: Welcome To Dude Night

So, the first episode is available now. Download it here.

We had audio issues galore, including a hum that we couldn't figure out how to get rid of, and volume problems on Gonso and Dawg's microphones. We'll iron these issues out sooner or later. I hope you can gut it out.

First, we pay homage to Groucho & CHUD over at The Beer Report, who inspired Dawg to do this podcast in the first place. We appreciate their show more than anything. If you haven't listened to them, check them out using the link on the right.

I didn't know they sold Tequila in Germany, nor did I know that the hookers were unionized. The longer I know Gonso, the more I respect where he's from.

That said, I really wish I could take back defending Budweiser. But I have to stand firm. I can't stand the taste of that swill, nor do I think they deserve to be called the "King of Beers." But I have to respect the fact that they've done what they've done for as long as they have.

We enjoyed some of Alaskan Brewing's Winter Ale, which is spiced with spruce tips. I really like the beer - it tastes like the holidays to me. I read somewhere that they used to spice beer with spruce tips instead of hops because they found that spruce tips helped prevent scurvy. This, of course, drives G&D bat-shit because either they they don't believe it has spruce tips in it, or they're surprised that I can read.

If we haven't lost you at this point, we defend why it's OK to sit down to pee. Things can only get worse from here.
